Taping your windows is no substitute for hurricane shutters. In fact, it’s just a waste of precious time, and tape. Sure, a couple small glass fragments will hold together should the window break, but the tape does not strengthen the glass and only provides you with a false sense of security - and tape goo to scrape off your window later.
If there was tape on your mother’s window when your baseball hit it, would it still break? You may have been able to run from her, but it’s a little more difficult to run from a hurricane.
